Alberta Mae Ternus was born May 22, 1936, in Stanton, Nebraska, to Charles and Anna (Feiling) Kersten. She graduated from Stanton High School and worked in a coffee shop in Stanton for several years. Alberta's interest in photography led her to take some classes and go to work for a photographer in Norfolk, Nebraska. She later moved to Fremont, Nebraska, to live with her twin brother and while in Fremont worked for a photographer there.
Alberta met the love of her life, Allen Ternus, while attending a dance at the Kings Ballroom in Norfolk. The couple were united in marriage on October 5, 1968, in Stanton. They farmed near Madison, Nebraska, until 1974 and then moved to Genoa where they farmed and raised pigs for many years. Alberta was Al's right hand on the farm. Work did not scare her. She raised and sold Siamese cats, and even had a small greeting card business that she began in high school. She was a member of the legion auxiliary and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Alberta will be remembered by all for her baking skills. She was a wonderful cook and baker, donating items to any organization that had a fundraiser going on.

Brother – Chuck (Susan) Kersten of Omaha, NE
Sister – Dianne (Delaine) Wendt of Leigh, NE
Sister-in-law – Rosemary Kersten of Stanton, NE
Numerous nieces and nephews
