Graveside funeral services for Alfred Adam Piergallini and Lorraine Leraris Piergallini, originally from Martins Creek and Roseto respectfully, will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Church Hill Cemetery,
Martins Creek, PA.
They married at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Roseto and were married for 50 years until Lorraine's passing on August 14, 2019. A career consumer products executive, leader and mentor to many, Alfred passed away in Scottsdale, AZ on January 9, 2021.
Alfred was born August 1, 1946, in Easton, PA, to Adam Martin and Mary Bavaria Piergallini, Alfred was a 1964 graduate of Easton High School. Alfred was a standout scholar athlete, lettering in baseball and football, but he excelled at his true love, football. Alfred was a cum laude graduate of Lafayette College where he was a star two-way football player for 4 years. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with a B.A. in Economics in 1968.
After graduating from Lafayette College, they moved to
Chicago, IL, where Alfred received his MBA in Marketing and Finance from The University of Chicago's acclaimed Booth School of Business.
Lorraine was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Leraris of Bangor. She was a graduate of Pius X High School and Pennsylvania State University where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She received her master's degree in early childhood education from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a first-grade teacher in the Easton Area School District. She later was employed as a second-grade teacher in
Markham, Ill.After Chicago, Piergallini held executive positions at Proctor and Gamble, Shasta Beverages, and the Carnation Company before ultimately taking on the role of Chairman, President, and CEO of Gerber Products at the age of 43. In 1994, he facilitated the sale of Gerber to Novartis Consumer Health. In February 1999, Alfred was appointed Novartis Consumer Health North America President and CEO. In December of that same year, he took over as Chairman, President, and CEO of Novartis Consumer Health Worldwide. He retired from that position in 2001.
During his retirement, Alfred started his own consulting business and served on the board of directors for companies such as Comerica, Ocean Spray, and Central Garden and Pet. Additionally, he was an investor as well as Chairman, President and CEO of Wisconsin Cheese Group. He will be remembered for his intellect, his quick wit, his kindness, and his complete dedication to his family.
They are survived by their daughter Allison, beloved grandson Donovan Alfred and son-in-law, Ryan Borland. Their son, Adam, died in 2022. Alfred is also survived by his brother, Adam Piergallini and cousin Joseph Piergallini.
