Johnny Webb Obituary

Johnny Dean Webb, Sr. passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
Born in Madison County, he lived here all of his life leaving a legacy of family, hard work and service to others. Not one to shy away from a good joke, Johnny could bring the gift of laughter to anyone he met. He was the water department supervisor for the City of Madison for 31 years. Prior to that, he was a line supervisor at Dixie Packers for 15 years. Fresh out of high school, he served in the Army Reserves for six years. Most recently, he was known as "Mr. Grumpy" from Grumpy's Diner on Main, where he enjoyed his newfound fame and the occasional cheeseburger. Johnny loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He loved to work in his yard, drive his tractor and plant beautiful trees.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wendy Joy; parents, Truman and Joyce Webb; and his siblings: Connie Webb, Robbie Overby, Margie Revels, James Webb and Dennis Webb.
He leaves behind his family whom he loved dearly: his wife of 48 years, Jessica Brawner-Webb; sons and daughters-in-love, Johnny Dean Webb, Jr. and Leslie and Justin Derick Webb and Jan; the lights of his life, granddaughters, Melana and Kensi Webb; sisters-in-law, Margie Chester and Judy Webb; a host of nieces and nephews, and his precious fur babies, Peanut and Buttercup.
A celebration of Johnny's life was held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Madison, with Pastor Charles Matlock officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
