Alice Marie Dietz, our beloved "Susie," peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Mapleton, Utah, at the age of 72.

Born on December 19, 1953, in Salt Lake City to Jens Christian Thorndahl Dietz and Metha Marie Dietz. Alice was a light in the lives of those who knew her from the very start. From the day she came home from the hospital, her father affectionately called her "Susie," a name that carried the warmth and devotion she felt for her family throughout her life.

Susie was a woman of dedication and quiet service. She spent many years working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Family History and Genealogy Department cataloging microfilm in the granite vaults helping to preserve the stories and legacies of countless families. Susie also worked at AT&T, University of Utah in the billing department, and at See’s candy.

Her hands were rarely still. As a gifted artisan, Susie found joy in ceramics, crochet, and needlework, sharing her handmade gifts with friends, family, and neighbors. Her home was a reflection of her heart—carefully decorated for every holiday and filled with her cherished collections of stuffed animals and Precious Moments figurines. Susie had a love for animals. Above all, Susie’s heart belonged to her dogs, Brandy and Buffy. They were the absolute love of her life, providing her with constant companionship and joy.

Susie is survived by her sibling: Orson (Linda) Dietz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Metha, as well as five sisters and three brothers.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Spring Gardens Assisted Living in Mapleton and Health Watch Hospice Care for the tender care and kindness they provided Susie.

Susie will be laid to rest at a graveside service on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery (6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, Utah).
