AKWESASNE – Allen P. "Saga" Mitchell, 53, of Mill Street, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home.
Saga was born on June 13, 1971 in Cornwall, Ontario, the son of the late Patrick and Ann (Arquette) Mitchell. Saga was currently working at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino as a houseman. He had previously worked at Jacobs Manufacturing and Akwesasne Log Cabin. He was a member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group and enjoyed fishing, bowling, and was an avid Ottawa Senators fan.
Saga is survived by his daughters, Brittney George-Mitchell and Brooke George-Mitchell (Jayden), all of Massena; his granddaughter, Harmony and was greatly anticipating the arrival of his second grandchild; and his best friends, Thompson and Dickie.
He is also survived by his brother, John (Beatrice) Mitchell; his sisters, Sharon Mitchell, Roberta (Joe) Bigtree, Valerie (Jeffery) Mitchell, Connie Mitchell, and Charlene (Richard) Johnson; his aunts and uncles, Esther and Joe Jock and Audrey and Ray Wagner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Mitchell; two sisters, Sandra Mitchell Smoke and Donna Mitchell; and a niece Lisa Mitchell.
Friends may call at the Akwesasne Homemakers on Monday beginning at 2:00 PM until Wednesday at 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 15th at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
