Anna Horn Obituary

PEORIA – Anna J. Horn, 90, passed away at home in Peoria, peacefully with her family around her on December 9, 2024. She was so loved and will be missed by her family. Anna was a longtime resident of Morton, IL. She was born on August 25, 1934, in Peoria, IL, to Harry Elger and Mary Hill Elger. Anna married Loran D. Horn on Oct. 17, 1958, in Peoria. Shee is survived by her daughter, Lori (Todd) Mullins of Peoria; daughter-in-law, Pam Horn of Bloomington; grandchildren, Jacob (Lyny) Mullins of Boston, MA, Jared (Chelsea) Mullins of Bloomington, IL, Hannah (Brian) Fiedler of Lisle, IL, Adam Horn of Bloomington, IL, and Aimee Horn of Bloomington, IL; great grandchildren, Obed Mullins and Ridley Mullins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in February 2024, her son, Michael Horn, in May 2023. Anna loved spending time with family. They were members of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton for 50 years. Anna enjoyed traveling and had many stories to tell about trips to Ireland, Europe, and New York, as well as the retirement winters she and Loran spent in Tucson, Arizona. Anna enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader and would often read a book a day up until the last month of her life. For many years, she enjoyed being part of the local chapter of the Red Hat Society. She attended Manual Training High School and earned her bachelor's degree in Dietetics from Bradley University and finished up at University of Illinois with her clinicals in New York. Anna worked as a dietician for OSF St. Francis hospital for 38 years and retired 1994. The family would like to express their appreciation to Shirette's In Home Care, Cindy and Tamara, the home health aides who became like family during their wonderful care of both Loran and Anna and the love and laughter they brought to our days. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Wounded Warrior would be appreciated by Anna and the family.
