Yuch-Ning Shieh Obituary

Professor Yuch-Ning Shieh passed away in the morning of November 2, 2025 in Menlo Park, California, at the age of 85. He held a long-standing position in Purdue University's Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, from 1972-2017, and has held positions at other institutions like the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica. His research focused on geochemistry and stable isotope studies, including its application to understand geothermal systems and environmental changes in regions like Taiwan. Yuch-Ning came to the US from Taiwan in 1963 for his graduate studies at Caltech.

He will be remembered for his sincerity, sense of humor, and his great passion for science and culinary delights. He was a dedicated family man and will be profoundly missed by his surviving family members: his wife, two daughters, and four siblings."
