Anslem L. "Leo" LeClair passed away after a 17-month long battle with congestive heart failure. He was 89 years old.
Leo was born in Boston and grew up in Cohasset as the youngest of eight children. His impeccable work ethic sprouted from a young age, and he had a long and successful career with Procter & Gamble in Quincy as a Relief Operator. Leo was a jack-of-all-trades, and often had to fill in for different positions at the company. He often worked many long hours.
When he was sixteen, Leo met Dorothy Wessman. The two began dating and would later marry on June 6th, 1954, celebrating 70 years of marriage together this year. They settled down in Bridgewater where they built their home and raised their five children.
When Leo wasn't working, he could often be found tending to his yard and gardening. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was building model airplanes or repairing something in the home that he built. He was also an avid coin collector and bought commemorative coins for his children and grandchildren for special occasions. Leo loved dogs, and the family raised and cared for many German Shepherds over the years. In later years he traveled with his wife and friends to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, Arizona and the Bahamas.
Leo was the true patriarch of his family. He had a strong personality, was hardworking, loved his country, was a man of faith, and made sure everything went his way. He loved his family and making others laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him.
Leo is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin LeClair and Bertha (Girard), as well as his seven siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy LeClair (Wessman) of Bridgewater. Father of Donna Kelly and Paul (and their children, Garrett and Trevor) of Bridgewater, Katherine Remes (and her children Elizabeth, Aimee, Meredith, and Michael) of Hanover, Paul LeClair and Janet Cox (and his children Leigh and Jenny) of East Bridgewater, Mark LeClair and his wife Nancy (and their children Steven and Jeremy) of Kingston, and Christina LeClair and Thomas Fantom (and her children Benjamin, Grace, and Grant) of Falmouth. He also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, MA 02324 on Monday, September 23rd, 2024. A funeral mass will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
