EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Anthony Fontenot, Sr. announces his passing on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette at the age of 68. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Hampton Davis, Celebrant.
Anthony, known as Tommy to all who knew and loved him, was born on January 16, 1957, to the late Leroy and Ruth Gauthreaux Fontenot. He found great joy in music and playing the accordion. He also enjoyed fishing, dirt track cars, dually trucks, raising roses, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Anthony will be remembered by all, including his wife, Donna Fontenot of Eunice; sons, Anthony Gautreaux and wife, Kim of Longview, TX, Joel Deville of Sunset, Jonathan Guillory of Lafayette, Anthony Fontenot, Jr. and wife, Monica of Hallsville, Jody Fontenot and wife, Natasha of Youngsville, and Kyle Fontenot and wife, Kyla of Denham Springs; his daughter, Cherie Cowart and husband, Rocky of Eunice; sisters, Barbara Cole of Deridder and Donna Fontenot of Estherwood; nine grandchildren, Holden Gauthreaux, Brianna Fontenot, Alyssa Fontenot, McKenzie Jones, Adalie Horn, Lauren Fontenot, Gabriella Fontenot, Anthony Paul Fontenot, III, and Faith Fontenot; six great grandchildren, Paisley Gauthreaux, Camille Knott, Blayde Knott, Riley Gauthreaux, Jackson Gauthreaux, Everlee Gauthreaux; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Aline Fontenot; parents; brother, Charles Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00 am until 8:00pm, and again on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will pray a rosary at 6:00pm Friday.
