Anthony King Obituary

Deacon Anthony Fredrick King, the son of Mercie T. King, Sr. and Lula Mae King was born on January 29, 1961, in Sasser, Terrell County, GA.
Early in life, realizing that God was source and the strength of his life, Anthony accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Sasser, GA. Later, Anthony was ordained as a Deacon and served faithfully.
Anthony was educated in the public schools of Terrell County, GA. He was a member of the graduating Class of 1978 from Terrell County High School in Dawson, GA.
'Big Baby' as Anthony was affectionately called and known by friends, possessed a kind heart and had an open door to anyone. He played a major role in the lives of many. He was no stranger to hard work and was a very loyal employee. Anthony was employed by the City of Albany for 25 ½ years. He later gained employment with Lee County Public Works and was there for 20 years.
On July 15, 2015, Anthony was united into Holy Matrimony to the former Genelle Salter.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, our dear husband, father, brother, uncle, and granddad, answered the ultimate dispatch from his creator to come home for eternal rest at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Although, it broke our hearts to lose him, we rejoice in knowing that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. In addition to his parents, Mercie and Lula King, Anthony was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy King, Ernest King, and one sister, Deborah King.
Precious and everlasting memories will always remain with loving and devoted family, which includes his wife, Genelle King of Sasser, GA; four children, Cornelius (Cornelia) King of Gray Court, SC; Varolyn King (Quinton) of Sasser, GA; Waltdrecous (Cornesia) Davis of Gainesville, FL; and Markia Moore (Clint) of Valdosta, GA; two sisters, Lois Murphy of Leesburg, GA and Adele Robinson of West Palm Beach, FL; one brother, Mercie (Mary) King of Windsor, CT; eight grandchildren, Locaresha Lanier, Jaylah Hilson, Ashanti King, Demontae King, JaBari Cody, JhaMare Cody, Camiya King, Chauntice Ward, and Natassja McCloud, who Anthony reared as his own; nine great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Zelda (Minister Stanley) Peters and Patty Pruitt all of Sasser, GA and Connie (Willie) Shannon of Dawson, GA; two brothers-in-law, Pastor Wade (Debbie) Clyde, Sr. of Sasser, Ga and Dennis (Virginia) Salter of Dawson, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
