Mrs. Ardys A. Albertsen, age 96, of Audubon, IA, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, IA.

Ardys Adel Frederiksen was born on February 20, 1929, to Frederick and Clara (Petersen) Frederiksen on their family farm south of Hamlin. She was baptized at Hamlin Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon. She attended Hamlin School #6 and graduated from Audubon High School with the class of 1947.

Her father passed away when Ardys was 16 years old. Her mother remarried Magnus Madsen, and she enjoyed many years with him as part of her life. Ardys taught country school for several years. She later attended Dana College in Blair, NE. After her college years, she worked at The First National Bank in Eugene, OR, and The First National Bank in Lincoln, NE.

After returning to Audubon, Ardys worked as the secretary at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. While back in Audubon, Ardys met Ernie Albertsen. They were married on October 25th, 1953, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon. They lived in Audubon and were blessed with three children: Jeff, Jo Ellen, and Joni. In 1962, they moved to their farm near Gray, Iowa, in Cameron Township. She was busy raising their children and helping on the farm. She enjoyed playing bridge and was active in the Cameron Country Club. She was a member of the Church Circle and, in later years, a member of the Red Hat Society.

Ardys and Ernie enjoyed time with family and friends, playing cards, ballroom dancing, traveling, and wintering in Tucson, AZ, close to her sister Sally, her husband Stan, and their family. After retiring in 1991, they moved to Carroll, IA. Ernie passed away in 1994. Ardys continued wintering in AZ, where she met a great friend, Bob Johnson, and they stayed friends for 20 years until he passed away in 2018. Ardys moved to Audubon in November 2020 and later entered the Exira Care Center in May 2022.

Ardys was preceded in death by her husband Ernie; daughter-in-law, Carol Albertsen; her parents, Frederick and Clara Frederiksen; step-father Magnus Madsen; infant sister Carol Ann; brothers Franklin (and wife Gwendolyn) and Curtis Frederiksen; sister Sally Coulthard; mother and father-in-law Mike and Sidsel Albertsen; brother-in-law Russell Albertsen; brother and sister-in-law LaVern and Carrie Schmidt; and her special friend Bob Johnson.
