ARLYS JANE FELL, age 83 of Waseca, died on the afternoon of Friday, October 17, 2025, at Foxdale in Waseca.
Arlys was born in Comfrey, Minnesota on February 15, 1942, to parents Joseph and Loretta (Mathiowetz) Helget. She attended St. Paul Catholic School before graduating from Comfrey High School with the class of 1960. She then furthered her education in Mankato where she studied accounting. She worked for a time at Green Giant in Le Sueur and it was during that time she met the man that would become her husband. On April 27, 1963, Arlys was united in marriage to Raymond E. Fell at St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey. They made their home in Waseca. As a homemaker, she raised four children before taking on working roles at the E.F. Johnson Company and later Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She ended her working years at Shady Oaks Nursery in Waseca. Arlys enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, and attending bluegrass music festivals with Ray. For over 25 years she enjoyed attending an annual cousin’s weekend with her sister, Mary. She also had the opportunity to take a life-long dream trip to Italy with her brother, Jim, and loved repeated trips to Oregon with her family. Arlys was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Secular Franciscan Order, the Birthright Organization, and the Waseca Quilting Club.
Arlys is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Raymond Fell of Waseca; four children, Teresa (Dan) Stettler of Farmington, Michael (Natalie) Fell of Waseca, David Fell of Waseca, and Chad (Rebekah) Fell of Corvallis, OR; three grandsons, Aaron Norman, Bradley Norman; and Evan Fell; two brothers, Ronald (Bernetta) Helget of Comfrey, James Helget of Rochester; one sister, Mary (Roger) Merritt of Freeborn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; two brothers, Cyril and Myron Helget; and one son in infancy, Joseph Fell.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the Mass on Thursday. A rosary service lead by the Catholic Daughters will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Father Glenn Frerichs officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Waseca.
