Arnold McLean, (60), of Auburn, Maine passed away after a long and heroic battle with cancer on June 20, 2024, surrounded by friends and family.
He was born to Bertha Mae McLean, on December 18,1963 in Sanford, North Carolina. Arnold, was fondly known across the Lewiston-Auburn community as Walmart's most well known greeter and a man of great kindness and a warm encourager to everyone he met.
Arnold's loving spirit is carried on by his family both here in Maine; Farrel, Pennsylvania; and Newport News and Richmond, Virginia including his daughters Michelle Baldwin and Kiyana Riley, and his 2 son-in-laws and grandchildren, and great grandchildren; His brother Artist McLean and sister Carol Jean McLean-Whitfield; and his beloved best friend and caregiver Crystal Whiting her children Tiffany, Demonta, and Anwar Whiting and his wife Julia Sleeper-Whiting; and his grandchildren Jaheim, Keagan, and Shyana Whiting. He is additionally survived by his adoring Aunt Shelia-Nancy McLean-Witcher and his special Uncle Adrian Witcher along with numerous siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in peace was his beloved mother, Bertha Mae McLean, his grandmother Carrie Lee McLean, and his Great Grandfather Lonzie McLean.
Arnold was passionate about encouraging others everywhere he went. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Arnold positively impacted our community and countless lives in so many ways and he will be truly missed.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff for the care he received at St. Mary's Hospital and Andwell Hospice House and for everyone who has supported him with encouragement and prayers.
To honor Arnold, a Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Temple Church at 2488 Turner Street, Auburn, Maine on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Hospice House of Andwell Hospice 15 Strawberry Ave. Lewiston, ME 04240.
Arrangements are under the care of Albert & Burpee Funeral Home & Cremation Services 253 Pine St. Lewiston, 782-7201.
