Maureen Ellinger Farmer passed peacefully from this life on the morning of December 9, 2024 surrounded by the people she most loved in life, her husband Mike, sons Rob and Kevin and her beloved dog Leo.
Maureen was the eldest of identical twin daughters born to Robert and Patricia Ellinger in Kansas City, MO. The "Twins", Maureen and Lynn, grew up in Kansas City until 1963 (along with sisters Joan, Deni, Elaine and Barbara) when the family relocated to
Dallas, TX. They were members for the first graduating class from Bishop Lynch High School.
Maureen worked for Cullum Company (Tom Thumb Stores) after high school and in 1971 became re-acquainted with Mike Farmer who she had met in high school. Mike and Maureen were married in July of 1972. They moved to Denver in 1973 and then California in 1976. Two sons were born along the way, Rob in 1974 and Kevin in 1976.
Maureen developed a burning desire to get a college degree and in 1995 she was awarded a BA in Sociology "Magna Cum Laude" from California State University in San Marcos, CA. Her time spent at CSUSM were some of the happiest years of her adult life where she excelled as a student and as a campus leader.
Maureen also developed an idea that she wanted to move back to Texas to be closer to her parents and sisters. In 1996 Maureen and Mike moved back to Texas first to Houston and then to Dallas in 2000.
Maureen became the office manager for VGS Marketing in 2000 and then The Assistant to the Director of Children's Cancer Fund until she retired.
She became very involved in Bishop Lynch High School's Alumni Association serving on the alumni board for many years and organizing many activities including the school's first 50 year reunion in 2016.
Predeceasing Maureen were her parents Bob and Pat, her twin sister Lynn and sister-in-law Roberta Marsh.
Maureen is survived by her husband Mike, sons Rob and Kevin, grandsons Nolan and Brett, sisters Joan Bertucci (Jim), Deni Moran (Mike), Elaine Starr and Barbara Jacobs (Roy). In-laws Gef Farmer (Kathy), Richard Farmer (Karl) and Marguerite Marz (Mike), Larry Tramel and Denver Marsh. She is also survived by a great number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Maureen was a great friend to many, a great wife and a great mother. She was loved by her family and friends and is missed greatly.
We want to thank especially the team at VNA hospice for their gentle care for Maureen in her last months, the Pulmonology Dept at UT Southwestern and finally her many friends from both California and Texas who came to see Maureen in her last six months.
Happy Trails to you, Maureen - until we meet again.
