Arthur "AB" Berchman J. Richard passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 83. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Stephen Pellesier Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
At the request of family, visitation will be held at Quirk & Son on Friday, February 14, 2024 from 8:30 AM until noon, at which time Deacon Chuck Ortego will lead the Rosary, followed by dismissal for Services.
AB, born in Richard, La., was a hard worker, working 40+ years in the oil industry. As a child he enjoyed horseback riding and farming with his dad.
Being quiet man, when he had something to say, everyone waited and listened for the forthcoming wisdom. He loved being outside gardening, cooking bar-b-que and spending time with his family. He loved his wife and family dearly. He took excellent care of his wife and they went everywhere together. He made his grandkids the best ever homemade lemonade.
He often reminisced about his childhood friend/cousin and servant of God, Charlene Richard.
"AB" is survived by his wife, Norma Fontenot Richard; his son, John Neil Richard, Sr.; two daughters, Tammy Wallett (James), Suzanne Freitas (Daniel); eleven grandchildren, Michael Wallett (Kimberly), Renee Morein (Ike), Taylor Wallett (Kelli Jo), Blair Guidry (Barrett), Kesha Mimms (Greg), Josh McBride (Angie), Elizabeth Lintzen (Jobe), Amber Vidrine (Travis), Dempsy Richard, John Richard, Jr. Drake Richard and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Constant Brist Richard and Ovena Miller Richard; three brothers, Lex Richard, Eurick Richard, Eddie Richard; seven sisters, Alice Menard, Odile Cormier, Lelia Thibodeaux, Amy Doucet, Bessie Gaudet, Ruby Daigle and Estelle Richard.
