A Bardstown resident, Mr. Arthur Edward Reed, age 88, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at his residence. He was born April 20, 1937, in Springfield to the late Clarence and Frances Spurley Reed. Arthur was a retired maintenance manager at the Old Flaget Hospital and was a member of St. John AME Zion Church of Bardstown. Arthur enjoyed fishing and bowling, was an avid UofK fan and was everybody's favorite uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Reed, a brother Nelson Reed, two sisters, Katherine Frances and Rosetta Dodson, and a half-brother Matthew Reed. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Shauntee Reed, eight children, Arthur Reed of Plano, TX., Jeffrey Reed of San Antonio, TX., Tim (Debra) Reed of Garner, NC., Paula (Willie) Spriggs, Jr. of Navasota, TX., Carol (Kevin) Wagner of Lexington, Roslyn (Richard) Harris of Gainsville, GA., Teresa Reed, Patrick (Joslynne) Reed, both of Bardstown, one sister, Liz (Charlie) Davidson of Pineville, GA., one brother, William Reed of Homestead, FL., and two half-sisters, Carleen Phillips and Sharon Brewer of Bardstown. Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Edward Reed will be 2:00 pm, Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. Reverend Roscoe Linton will officiate. Interment will be in Bardstown Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 pm until time of funeral service. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
