Obituary published on Legacy.com by The House of Day Funeral Service, Inc. on Mar. 12, 2024.
Avery Marquez Alexander, 26, of
Toledo, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on March 2nd, 2024. It
was a great joy and honor to be a part of Avery's life.
Born on May 8, 1997 to Treshonda Boozer and James Alexander, Avery was the first born child to both
his mother and father at Southern Regional Medical Center in
Atlanta, Georgia. Avery will be
remembered by his family and friends as having a gentle spirit, quiet presence, and a mighty smile that
could light up any space he occupied.
Avery was christened at the age of 1. He also dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at World
Changers Church International (
College Park, Georgia). Avery loved the Lord. He took pride in attending
church and always welcomed receiving prayer from close family and friends.
After relocating from
Atlanta, Georgia to
Toledo, Ohio in 2009, Avery attended Robinson Jr. High and
Springfield High School in
Sylvania, Ohio. His classmates would describe him as being jovial, a "cool
dude" and always so laidback. After graduating with his High School Diploma in June 2016, Avery
briefly attended Owens Community College where he studied Graphic Animation. Avery truly enjoyed
the arts of all kinds. He could be caught at any moment singing, rapping, or drawing any animation
character. It is safe to say, challenging him to any kind of art battle would not have been recommended :)
He also took delight in playing video games and taking road trips with his family. Two of his favorite
destinations were Destin and
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he could fish and enjoy beach activities with
those he loved.
While Avery enjoyed the arts and traveling, he was also a hard worker. He was honored with Employee of
the month in 2016 while working at Wendy's, after graduating with his high school diploma. Additionally,
he worked at Mancy's Steakhouse in 2017.
Avery will be affectionately remembered by his mother, Treshonda Boozer (
Atlanta, Georgia), Father,
James Alexander (
Toledo, Ohio); Paternal Grandmother, Teresa Alexander (
Toledo, Ohio), Maternal
Grandmother, Jacqueline Chattmon (
Atlanta, Georgia); Brothers: Keenan & Cairo (
Toledo, Ohio),
Tremon, Amir, Omaree, and Tyler (
Atlanta, Georgia); Sisters: Imani & Taylor (
Atlanta, Georgia); Special
Cousins: Aishadia Cross (
Atlanta, Georgia), Adrian Hutchins II (

(Clinton); Special Great- Aunt, Darla Alexander (
Atlanta, Georgia); Special Great-Uncle, Rashan
Alexander (

Atlanta, Georgia) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins,
friends, and supporters that will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his paternal Great-Grandmother, Freddie Mae Alexander (
Toledo, Ohio),
paternal Great-Aunt, Sandra Alexander (
Atlanta, Georgia) and his paternal Great-Grandfather, Thomas
Alexander (
Toledo, Ohio) whom he shared a close relationship with during his teenage and young adult
life. As Thomas began to make his transition, he insisted on having Avery there with him. Avery was
proud of being his grandfather's caretaker and companion.
A celebration of life will take place on March 16th, 2024 at 11:00am to honor Avery at Lifeway Church,
701 Phillips Ave,
