Barbara Ann Walden Poole Taylor, 94 of Avon, died peacefully October 12, 2025.
Barbara was born January 26, 1931 to the late Grover and Charlotte (Staab) Walden in Beech Grove, Indiana.
After grades 1-8 at St. Ann's Catholic Grade School, Barbara attended Lady Wood High School in Indianapolis. She had the privilege of attending St. Mary of the Woods College during her senior year of high school, contemplating a religious life as a Sister of Providence. Barbara graduated from St. John's Academy, Indianapolis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Joseph Poole; her second husband Dale Taylor; and her six siblings, Grover Walden, Violet Graham, James Walden, Richard Walden, Carolyn Dille and Neva Jean Craft.
Barbara and Dale started Taylor Landscaping in Danville, IN, operating it until they retired to Florida in 1997. She also retired from Hendricks County Bank and Trust at that time.
Barbara and Dale were active members of St. Francis of Assisi in Englewood, Florida where she served as president of the Women's Guild, president of the Women's Auxiliary and Treasurer. Always with a flair for fashion and great fund-raising ideas, she headed many a fashion show at church and her neighborhood club.
She was most recently a member of Mary Queen of Peace, Danville IN, serving as vice president and president of the Women's Club and several years as the Wedding Coordinator.
Survivors include her children, John Poole (Donna), Rita Shunk (Rick), Jean Watson (David) and Joseph Poole (Jennifer); stepchildren, Butch Taylor (Connie), and Kathy Woods (Glenn); 12 grandchildren in addition to many beloved great and great-great grandchildren. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her "Queen B".
The family would like to thank Transitions Hospice and The Village of Avon for their tender care of Barbara Taylor.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 16 from 10 am until 12 noon in Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1005 West Main St. Danville, IN. A rosary will be prayed a half hour before the service. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis.
