Barbara Volpi Obituary

Barbara Jean Volpi was born on May 12, 1933 in Rutherford, CA. She passed away on December 15, 2023 at the age of 90 in Elk Grove, CA.

Barbara was born to William and Rose Skellenger. She was the oldest of six children. She moved to El Cerrito when she was 17 where she attended El Cerrito High School for the second half of her senior year. It was here she met Robert Volpi (Bob). They started dating and were married on July 4, l954. They lived in El Cerrito where they bought their first home in 1955. They lived there until they retired to Twain Harte, CA in 1996,

Barbara was a stay-at-home mom to her six children and she watched several of the neighborhood children. She volunteered at her kids' school - she was an active member of the PTA and she worked the hot lunch program.

Barbara had many interests. She loved watching sports, she liked working puzzles, she enjoyed shopping and gardening and latch hooking rugs. But her favorite thing to do was cook a huge meal and then invite family and friends to share that meal with her and Bob. She was most content in her kitchen planning and cooking those meals.

Barbara is survived by five of her six children, Robert Volpi (Shelly), Vicki Bethel (Ron), Cathi Flores (Rudy), Terri Bond, and Toni Baumgartner (Mike), 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Bob (2019) and her oldest son Greg (2017).

A celebration of life will be held on a future date.
