Barry Emmett Husfloen, age 90, passed away on Aug. 18, 2024 at his home in Spokane, WA. He was born on Aug. 2,1934 in Mt. Vernon, WA, the son of Emmett and Virginia (Daniels) Husfloen.
Barry spent his early years in Mt. Vernon, WA where he attended grade school and junior high. Barry then attended Jenkins High School in Chewelah and graduated in 1953. He began working at the Magnesite Plant and as a farm hand in Davenport. He also worked as a farm hand for Wes Brittain in Chewelah, WA. While in Chewelah, he met Sharon L Burya and their love grew in leaps and bounds. They married on Sept. 25,1955 at the Chewelah Methodist Church. They resided in Chewelah for a short time and then moved to the Country Homes area of North Spokane. Barry began working at Kaiser Aluminum and quickly advanced into a position of leadership. Kaiser sent him across the globe to work and help operate manufacturing plants as far away as Ghana, Africa. He and Sharon raised their growing family wherever Barry's work took him in those early years. Barry and Lyndee left Spokane in December of 1974 and went to Africa for the first time. Sharon and Barry Jr. joined them in June of 1975 after he graduated. They would later all return to Spokane WA. Barry retired at the age of 65 and enjoyed the opportunity to spend most of his time close to his family. After his retirement, he would on occasion travel to assist Kaiser with plant operations in Russia, Africa and the southern U. S.
Barry and his family vacationed in Canada every year. He also enjoyed spending time on their family property at Chattaroy where he logged and took great pride in forestry management. Barry was also a great mechanic. He liked to tinker on cars especially the "older" vehicles. His 1949 Hudson was his pride and joy and he enjoyed stretching many miles behind the wheel of such a historical ride. He was known for his compassion and diligence of care for his family. He loved to dote over Sharon if she had a need he could help with. Barry was a kind; - sweet and all-around good man. He also was a great fan of the Gonzaga Bulldogs... "GoZagsl"
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, great grandchild, Grace and his brother, Terry Husfloen.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Husfloen, of Spokane, WA; two children, Lyndee Chatterton of Chattaroy, WA, Barry Husfloen (Gayle) of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Sarah, Angela, Robby, Nicole, Chelsey, and Meghan; great grandchildren, Violet, Maya, Eve, Peyton, Mayson, Boston, Jackson, Hadley, Cord, & Eflie; sister-in-law's, Judy Husfloen, Janice Burya, and Sally (Ben) Paramore; and a host of extended family and friends.
