James O'Neill Maloney, 93, of Lake Orion, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 29, 1931 in Detroit, MI to John A. Maloney, MD and Virginia (née George). He and his twin, Joseph, were the youngest of 4 children.
After graduating from Catholic Central High School, Jim received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Michigan State University. He loyally served his country as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army (Armor Division) and was stationed in Germany. During this time, he met and eventually married his wife of 67 years Dorothy (née King) and together raised three children.
Jim co-founded the AME Group Inc, commercial general contracting company, in 1970, retiring in 2005.
In 1970, Jim and Dot built a family cottage on Tee Lake in Lewiston, Michigan. They loved watching their children and grandchildren enjoy what they had built.
Jim and Dot enjoyed traveling around the world visiting Ireland, Italy, Russia, China and Croatia to name a few. Their favorite trips were their 6 pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Jim's faith was his strength. He and Dot are members of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Lake Orion.
Jim leaves behind the love of his life, Dot, and his daughter Maureen (Jeff) McFarland; sons James Jr (Pamela) and John (Kathryn); and 7 adored grandsons and granddaughters.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge will award me on that day -- and not only me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4-8.
