Bennie Joe Cade, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at the age of 88 at his home in Farmington, MO. Born on August 12, 1936, in East Prairie, MO, Ben's journey began as the beloved son of the late George Earl Cade and Pauline (Richardson) Cade. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Cade, and sister, Rosemary Ratliff, as well as his son-in-law, Cliff Makinster. His love story with his wife, Freda (Harris) Cade, spanned 54 beautiful years, filled with shared dreams and unwavering partnership.
A patriot at heart, Ben served his country as a 1st Sergeant in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam. His 20 year military career was marked by courage and commitment, qualities that he carried into his civilian life after retiring from the military. Ben's compassion and empathy continued to touch the lives of many while he continued to serve his community as a caseworker for the Division of Family Services for 18 years.
Ben was a devout member of Crossroads First Church of God in Libertyville, where his faith and fellowship were cornerstones of his life. He found joy in traveling, fishing, and sightseeing, always eager to explore the beauty of the world around him. His tremendous work ethic was matched only by his dedication to his family, whom he always put first. Ben was the epitome of a caregiver, always ensuring that those he loved were well taken care of.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by his children, Ronnie (Kitrena Wibbenmeyer) Cade of Leadwood, MO, Randy (Deniece Land) Cade of Shelby, NC, Kim Makinster of Farmington, MO, Brandon Cade of Victoria, TX, and his grandchildren, Joey (Jessie) Cade, Chris (Heather Meder) Cade, Casey Medcalf, Robby Cade, Lauren Cade, Noah Cade, Nathan Cade, and Natalie Cade, as well as his great-grandchildren, Sam, Lucy, Hazel, Bennie Bear, and Alex. Former daughter-in-law Mickie Cade, unofficial daughter Dina Cheek, unofficial granddaughter Anna Brooks, along with numerous other family members and friends, will also hold Ben's memory close to their hearts.
As we bid farewell to Bennie Joe Cade, we celebrate a life that was lived with purpose and grace. He was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire and to guide us. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will remain with us.
