Bernard "Bernie" Dennis Freiermuth, born on February 19, 1949 at his home in Hastings, MN, passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 75, at the Health & Rehab Center in New Richmond, WI surrounded by loved ones.
A man of unwavering strength and integrity, Bernie was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 55 years, Lois, and a dedicated father to their five children. He found joy in pleasures from his hobby farm to hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends sharing and gaining knowledge in these activities.
Bernie was known for his infectious sense of humor, his active participation in church activities, and his generous spirit that touched the lives of many. He enjoyed the excitement of auctions, the pursuit of treasures, and the camaraderie of coaching softball in his children's younger days.
A pillar of his community, Bernie was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, earning the prestigious status of 4th degree knight. He had a passion for raising Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, indulged in planting trees at his residence, and found time to support his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sporting events.
His love for travel took him far and wide, from the beautiful landscapes of Hawaii to the historic cities of Europe and the lively streets of Las Vegas. Bernie embraced life fully, finding joy in every moment and making memories that will forever be cherished.
Bernie is survived by his wife Lois Freiermuth; children Keri (Kevin) Dorschner, Scott (Nicole) Freiermuth; Shannon Freiermuth, Shelley (Jim Morse) Sand, Jamie (Daniel Schmitz) Freiermuth; grandchildren Jerec (Ashley) Dorschner, Jon (Jen) Stier, Brenden (Erika) Dorschner, Kyrie Zastrow, Dan (Bethany) Freiermuth, Maggie (Trevor) Maxwell; great-grandchildren Scarlet, Reece and Adalyn Dorschner, Bennett Dorschner; brother's- and sister's-in law Dennis (Linda) Whalen, Kathy (Jim) Wencl, Dale (Kathy) Whalen, James (Vicki) Whalen, Darlene (Darcy) Strouf, Lori (Mike) Wilde, Cindy Freiermuth; and other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter Freiermuth and Ethel Zemple; step-father Art Zemple; step-mother Esther Freiermuth; siblings Walter (Virginia) Freiermuth, Bernice Nelson, Arthur Freiermuth, Helen Freiermuth, Diane Tietz, Pat Freiermuth; and sister-in-law Arlene Whalen.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to dad's care teams at Adoray Hospice especially Dani, Martina, Natalie, Emily and Amber, Touching Hearts at Home and St. Croix County Health & Rehab. Your guidance and compassion through this journey will never be forgotten.
A visitation for Bernie will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St. Hudson, WI from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00p.m. with inurnment to follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Hudson, WI.
Bernard's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family and community will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
