Edward Wick, 85, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday November 3, 2024
Born in Pittsfield on April 15, 1939, son of George Jr. and Alice (Shea) Wick, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
A veteran, he enlisted with the United States Army on January 28, 1960, served a year overseas as a paratrooper and was honorably discharged on January 21, 1963. He transferred to the United States Amy Reserves to serve until January 27. 1966.
Following military service, he was employed for many years as a sheet metal worker for Pittsfield Pipers. He enjoyed all sports; the Boston Red Socks was he favorite team.
Though he wasn't a man of many words he loved his family dearly.
Mr. Wick is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Jerry) Wellspeak of Shaftsbury, VT; a son, Mark Maloy of Hinsdale; four granddaughters Kim Maloy, Megan Wick-Albert, Catie (Nate Cain) Wellspeak and Tori Wellspeak and three great grandchildren, Matejah, Phoenix and Xavier. Also, Lori & Mike Collins.
He will be missed by all that knew him, especially his love & best friend Sandra.
Besides his parents he was pre-deceased by his brother George III and sister Alice.
A celebration of the life with military honors for Ed will be held on December 7 at 1 pm at Mike & Lori's home at 144 Bossidy Drive in Pittsfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mesothelioma research or donation to help the family with funeral expenses, in care of THE DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
