Bertha Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Oct. 1, 2025.
Bertha Meyer, 81, of Wallingford, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Midstate Medical Center. She was born in Meriden on June 28, 1944, a daughter of the late Carl and Mary (Serra) Meyer.
Bert grew up in Meriden and attended Maloney High School. She worked many jobs before having a long career in electronics assembly. She cherished family gatherings, which always included great food, lots of laughter, a home full of love, and a competitive card or board game. She looked forward to attending the activities and sports of her grandchildren. She was a devoted lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and a diehard fan of the UCONN Huskies basketball teams.
Bert had a sense of adventure and loved to travel with family and friends. She never turned down a chance to take a cruise, a trip, or an opportunity to take in a Broadway show. Bert was an avid reader, attended classes at the Wallingford Senior Center, was a puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed her daily Facebook stalking. Her favorite place at the end of the day was in her recliner with her two fur babies, Ernie and Bambi.
Bert's family would like to send special acknowledgements to the best neighbors and friends, Michael, Jennifer, and Cody Marietta. Bert faced adversity with grace and strength throughout her entire life. She overcame many mountains, including a battle with cancer. Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Gerald Fumo and the entire staff of The Hematology, Oncology & Infusion Center for their superior care and support during her treatment. The family would also like to send a most grateful appreciation to the staff of Midstate Medical Center for the amazing care and support received on Pavilions B and C.
Bert is survived by her children, Renee Jones of Wallingford, Dana Noyes of Meriden, and Jim Wainer and his wife, Rochelle of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, DJ, Kristina, Kelly, Kayla, Cooper, Ryan, Austin, and Ethan; her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joey, Amelia, Ashton, and she was excitedly waiting for baby Mia; her brother, Thomas Meyer and his wife, Pat; sisters-in-law, Sue Funaro and Rheta Meyer; her goddaughter/niece, Sue Stapleton along with her husband, Jeff, and their children, Evan and Hannah; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Richard Meyer, Karl Meyer, Karla Ingram, and Debbie Cronin.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Sister's Project (PO Box 1643, Wallingford CT 06492), The Wallingford Animal Shelter (5 Pent Road, Wallingford CT 06492), or the charity of your choice.
