Betty Batiste Obituary

Betty Ann Greis Batiste, 85, of Welsh, LA entered eternal rest on September 27, 2024, at Ochsner American Legion Hospital in Jennings, LA. Betty was born on June 13, 1939 in Welsh, LA to Mary Harrison Mitchell and Henry Greis. Betty was educated in the Jefferson Parish School System and later worked as a Lab Technician in the Healthcare Industry. She later became a X-Ray Technician until the time of her retirement. Betty accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh, LA.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Batiste, Sr; her parents, Mary Harrison Mitchell and Henry Greis; siblings, Lawrence Bihm, Viola Bihm, Laura Bihm, Rita Jacko, and Matthew Mitchell.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Dwayne (Velta) Viney of Jennings, LA., Rachel Greis (Ronald L Simon, deceased) & Stephanie Arceneaux (Albert Arceneaux Jr., deceased) of Welsh, LA., and Frances (George) Tarver of Cypress, TX; her sisters, Annie Mae Mitchell & Mary Ann Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA., and Elizabeth Bihm; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, and 14 step great-grandchildren; her godchildren, Greggory Clark, La Ron D. Vickers, James Simon, and Raynard Mayfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Betty at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh, LA. Pastor Reverend Dr. Raju Mathew Panackal, M.O.C. will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will be in the Church Fellowship Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Bon Pasteur Cemetery in Welsh, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
