Betty Ann Harrell Cornelius Brown, 80, of Cherokee, former resident of Montreat Apartments, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Truman Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at Margerum Cemetery.
Betty Ann grew up in the Asphalt Rock Community. She was a member of Cowboy Church of Colbert County. Betty loved going to church and loved her Cowboy Church family. The most important people in Betty's life were her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and her Lord whom she loved serving. She loved dancing, music, laughing, and making people laugh.
Betty Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Felecia Charise Cornelius; the love of her life, Jimmy Ray; parents, Eugene and Beatrice Harrell; 2 brothers, Billy Gene and Danny Thomas Harrell; and grandparents, Momma Harrell and Charlie Daddy.
She is survived by her son, Leslie Cornelius (Sandra); 2 sisters, Shayne Cornelius (Joe) and Cheryl Glover (Thomas); 2 grandsons, Dustin and Damien Cornelius; 1 granddaughter, Raybon McMurtrey (Matt); 2 step-grandaughters, Jordan Testerman and Tara Emerson (BJ); great-grandchildren, Skylar, Zane, Neeko, Judge, Beau, Marleau, Nora, and Kinsley; special niece, Tammie Campbell (Don); and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Cornelius, Damien Cornelius, Matt McMurtrey, David Cornelius, Jamie Cornelius, and Billy McClung. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Campbell and Jerry Jean.
The family would like to give special thanks to Colbert County Home Health, North Alabama Hospice, Dr. Lynn Ridgeway, and Dr. Zaman Shah. Also a special thanks to Tammie Mauldin, Glenda Kent, Nakeda Thomas, and Lisa Kraut for their loving care at this time.
