Mrs. Betty Jean Josey, 88, of Martinez, GA, wife of the late Henry Wilson Josey, entered into rest on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Born in Aiken County, SC, and a resident of Martinez, GA, most of her life, Betty was a daughter of the late George, Sr. and Beatrice Widener Blackwell. She graduated from LBC High School in 1955, where she was a cheerleader. Betty retired from Kmart in Martinez, GA, where she was a bookkeeper. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, puzzles, watching the Braves and Dawgs, and being a talented seamstress.
Betty is loved and missed and will always be in the hearts of her children, Kathy Marie Roushar and Vera Josey and her longtime companion, Darryl Screen, grandchildren Michelle Roushar and Melissa McMullin; and her husband, Michael; great-grandchildren Andru Roushar and Ashlynn Fain, and Ayden Smith a devoted niece, Julie Jones, as well as several other relatives. Also preceding her in death was a son, Danny "Boone" Josey, and siblings George Blackwell, Jr. and Jessie Mae Jones.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Thursday, September 19, 2024, beginning at 1 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, with Pastor Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
