Betty Sue McMahan, 86, of Golconda, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. She was born on October 12, 1937, in Bumpus Mills, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph Earl and Lilly (Owen) McEwen. She married Howard McMahan on July 7, 1952, and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2004. Betty was of Baptist faith. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting. Betty also liked quilting, sewing and cooking. She was always wanting to learn new things.
Betty is survived by her children, Sandra Shields of Golconda, IL, Steve (Tina) McMahan of Norris City, IL. and Kenneth McMahan and Linda Russell of Golconda, IL; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Howard McMahan, Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty Ann Johnson; two grandchildren, Telena and Christopher;one great-grandchild, Jayden; and eight siblings, Joe Lewis, Eddie Dean, infant daughter, Joseph Earl, Jr., Charles Richard, Norma Louise, James Homer and Julie Silles.
Funeral services for Betty McMahan will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Family and friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday October 2, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
