Betty O'Toole, age 95, was born December 13, 1928 to John and Eleanor (Bohnenkamp) Ortmann in Le Mars, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School, graduating in 1946. On November 10, 1953 Betty married Clifford O'Toole at St. Mary's. The couple was blessed with two children and 64 years of life together. They moved to the O'Toole family farm near Tyler, Minnesota where she made a home for the O'Toole family. They retired from farming and moved into Tyler in 1992.
Betty was a member of St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, where she served as a religious education teacher, eucharistic minister, lector, board member, and mission quilter, and sewed baptism gowns for thirty years. In addition to sewing and quilting, she enjoyed reading, card playing, and having coffee with family and friends.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her children, Linda (Larry) Dolan of Sartell, Minnesota, and Pat (Brenda) O'Toole of Tyler, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Sean (Lisa) Dolan, Sister Maria Laudem Gloriae Dolan - S.O.L.T. order, Kyle O'Toole, and Ryan (Lyndsay) O'Toole; five great-grandchildren, Patrick, Annabelle and Jack Dolan, Theodore and Benjamin O'Toole; brothers, Jerome Ortmann and John Ortmann Jr.; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Clifford O'Toole; her parents, John and Eleanor Ortmann; brothers, Roman, Richard, Robert, and Paul Ortmann; sisters, Mary Jane Delperdang and Rita Smith.
