Jose Luis Camargo, age 69, of Anadarko, Oklahoma finally told his last dad joke on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his wife and children, his greatest fans.

He was born on March 27, 1956, in Harlingen, Texas to Jesus Camargo and Natividad Barron. He grew up to be a master storyteller, part-time handyman, and full-time comedian. His children claim he was the "funniest dad ever," though his dad jokes are now being investigated as cruel and unusual punishment. He married his high school sweetheart, Lydia Flores Camargo, on September 4, 1974, and she rode with him on the back of his motorcycle (the 2nd love of his life) for the next 51 years. Together, they were blessed with four children, 19 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Jose hated mowing the lawn, but he loved motorcycle road trips, family cookouts, sweets, and dancing with his wife to music that was entirely too inappropriate for children. The moonwalk was his favorite go-to dance move. He had a remarkable talent for staying calm in chaos, inventing questionable snack combinations, and getting away with telling the same five jokes at every family gathering. Somehow, they never stopped being just as funny as the first time they were told.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia Camargo; children: Marco Camargo, Adan Camargo, Cynthia Garcia and husband, Baltazar, and Mercedes Camargo and companion, Benjamin Medrano; siblings: Victor, Guadalupe, Juana, Magdalena, Felipe, and Anna; grandchildren: Veritee, Ceara, Mayela, Kaulin, Adan Jr., Levi, Evangeline, Jody, Noah, Annaleise, Julian, Esmy, Enzo, Jamez, Alizai, Nevaeh, Nathaniel, seven great grandchildren, and dearest family friend, Lavana Joyce Gonzalez, who will forever retell his stories and jokes.

He was preceded in death by Jesus Camargo, Natividad Barron, Ilissa Camargo, Ayddin Camargo, Javier Camargo, Vicente Camargo, and the last three lawnmowers he ran into the ground.

Jose will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of humor and love – and perhaps a lawn still waiting to be mowed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Alternatives Cremation & Funeral Service, located at 2813 NW 122nd Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the same location. In Jose's honor, the family encourages storytelling and laughter, as we send him off on his final motorcycle ride into the sunset to moonwalk with the angels.
