Betty Louise Sanders, 96, peacefully passed on in her sleep at Jill's House, Wednesday September 17, 2025. Born on January 17, 1929 to parents Pearl and Harry Hendricks, Betty was a lifelong resident of Bloomington, IN. She graduated from Bloomington High School, and spent her career as an organized, disciplined, and dedicated housewife. Known for her smile and cooperative demeanor, Betty could be seen propelling herself in her wheelchair around Jill's House with her feet continuously in motion. For her, Jill's House transformed her through engagement and programs, where she found peace and contentment. Betty always knew what was important. Faith, family, friends and pets made her happiest. Visiting those dear to her were special occasions. She was a member of McDole Baptist Church, which is where she met her husband, Robert Eugene Sanders. Married on May 7, 1951, Betty and Bob raised 2 children, Vickie Lynn and Robert Lee. She was very close to her parents, talking to them twice each day on the phone or in person about the day's events. Also, Betty belonged to the Travlin' Turtles Camping Club for over 30 years where she enjoyed many long-term friendships. Sitting next to her at home when she relaxed were pet dogs, cats, and birds. Most recently, she was visited by her faithful grand dog, Sarge who accompanied her son on visits. Starting in the mid 1990's, Betty began to suffer occasional strokes. Throughout the years the Strokes affected her more and combined with Alzheimer's they all took a toll. Her mental capacity suffered, she had shorter attention span and memory issues. Still, she continued and adapted to each setback with a positive attitude. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and daughter. A graveside service will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery on Wednesday September 24, 2025 at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Betty's memory.

Betty was such a good, Christian woman. It was always a delight to be around her. Bob and Betty were always special people to me. So sorry for the loss. It helps to know they are in a good place, but that doesn't take away from missing them deeply on this earth.
