Betty Lou Scott, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Pilot Point, Texas. She was born on September 29, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to Charles and Dorthea (Jacobs) Watson. On May 31, 1963, she married the love of her life, J.W. Scott, in Denton, Texas, and together they shared many devoted years of marriage.

Betty was deeply involved in the Pilot Point community and was widely known for her leadership, service, and generosity. She owned and operated a beloved flower shop in Pilot Point, where she served the community with creativity, care, and personal attention. She also owned and managed Germania Insurance Local 176, providing trusted service and support to local families and businesses. In recognition of her outstanding dedication and leadership, Betty was honored as the Pilot Point Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1997. Her civic involvement included eight years of service on the Pilot Point Chamber of Commerce Board, during which she chaired both the Annual Banquet and the Pioneer Days Dinner. She also served as President of the Lake Ray Roberts Chamber of Commerce and as Vice President of the Pilot Point Kiwanis Club, where she supported youth and community-focused initiatives. Betty was an active member of the 19th Century Club for more than 20 years and served as its President. She was also a dedicated member of the Pilot Point Booster Club, running the concession stand for 14 years in support of local students and athletics. Known for her kindness and generosity, she often popped popcorn at the concession stand and personally delivered it to Gee School to ensure every elementary school child received a treat. She was also widely known at the concession stands for her nachos, a recipe that is still shared today! Betty was also one of the founders of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and served as President. Additionally, she served as President of the Federated Women's Club, continuing a lifelong commitment to civic engagement and service.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, J.W.
