Thomas Long III Obituary
Thomas P. Long III, 74, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the loving husband of Joanna (Prazko) Long, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage this past November. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas P. Jr. and Doris (Parmelli) Long. A graduate of Wilkes University, Thomas earned his degree in Physics, graduating summa cum laude, and continued his education at the University of Maryland. Thomas began his career in 1977 at Western Electric in Allentown, proudly becoming the third generation of Thomas P. Longs to work at the Union Boulevard plant. Over the years, he contributed his expertise to AT&T Microelectronics, Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Agere Systems, retiring as a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff in the semiconductor industry.
A devoted member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, Thomas lived his faith through quiet dedication and service. His love of numbers and baseball combined in his work scoring Minor League Baseball games for Baseball Info Solutions, Inc.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Joanna; his sisters, Patricia (Robert) Wright of Eastampton, NJ, and Irene Infanti of Venice, FL; his niece and goddaughter, Katharine Wright; niece, Victoria Wright; and nephew, Patrick Infanti. He was predeceased by his sister, Victoria Long, and brother-in-law, Mark Infanti.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, and again from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Theresa’s Parish, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. A funeral repast will be held at The Carriage House at Heintzelman’s immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’s name to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church 100th Anniversary Celebration Fund or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Tom was my former coworker, boss and good friend at Western Electric, Lucent and Agere for over 40 years. He was a great caring person. He will be missed. Joanna, my condolences to you and your family. Tom and I became good friends after I joined Western Electric's Bipolar Engineering in 1979. I will always remember the good times we shared during my ten years there. Rest in peace, Tom.
