Betty Stingl Obituary

Betty Nell Stingl passed peacefully in her sleep on May 14, 2024 ten days after her 94th birthday. After a diagnosis of cancer, Betty was lovingly cared for by her son Tom in a home hospice situation. Betty's own life was a testament to love, dedication, and joy.

Betty's life was intertwined with that of her childhood sweetheart Joseph. The two first met at Moose Lake when Betty was 12 and Joseph was 14. They began dating after Joseph, a veteran, returned from his service in Japan.  In 1952 they married and embarked on a journey of love that spanned an incredible 72 years together.

Known for her warm and nurturing nature, Betty was a loving wife, a devoted mother and dedicated teacher. Betty loved to cook and was always keen to try new recipes with new and unusual ingredients. The recipes had to be healthy, they had to be followed to the letter, and you had to like them whether you wanted to or not. Betty's passion for cooking brought warmth and cheer to family gatherings and created memories that will be cherished forever.

Betty is survived by her husband Joe and her three sons: Michael (Jacqueline), William (JoAnne), and Thomas. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Brenna (Ben), Tamara (Robert), Corinne (Alex), Emily (Zachery) and Thomas (Kayla). Her legacy continues through her four great-grandchildren: Jayce, Jonah, Chloe, and Lydia.

Betty was extremely close to her two sisters, Mildred and Jean Ann, and the children of the three sisters saw a lot of each other as they grew up. Betty is survived by her older sister, Jean Ann, and by her nieces (Judy, Karin, Laurie, and Sue) and her nephew (Alan).

In remembering Betty's long and full life, let us celebrate the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the many lives she touched. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Betty Nell Stingl will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
