James Mobley Obituary

MOBLEY, James Robert "Bob"

James Robert "Bob" Mobley, 75, of Whitefish, Montana and Atlanta, Georgia, passed away at his home on August 22, 2025.

Born May 3, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia, to V.A. and Eugenia Mobley, Bob grew up in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School, Georgia State University and Harvard Business School.

Bob enjoyed a distinguished career in commercial real estate starting at Carter & Associates and later became a Managing Partner at Trammell Crow Company where he pursued his passion for developing warehouse/office buildings. He later formed Industrial Brokers & Associates, Inc. His excellence earned him several awards, and he was active with the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP).

Faith and patriotism were guiding principles in Bob's life. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Whitefish and was a longtime congregant of Peachtree Church in Atlanta. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution, reflecting his deep love of country and commitment to the values of honor and service.

Bob will be remembered for his brilliant mind, love of history and lifelong passion for reading. He was an avid skier who shared his passion by teaching his children and grandchildren. A devoted Atlanta Braves fan, he combined his love of sports and history by sharing stories, statistics and memorable moments with his family. Bob was a loving grandfather who cherished time with his four grandchildren. He traveled the world with his family and shared the beauty of nearby Glacier National Park with them. He also summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mount Rainier in Washington.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, V.A. and Eugenia Mobley. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Sherrill S. Mobley; his children, Jim Mobley (Laurie), of Arlington, VA, Kate Rock (John), of Alexandria, VA and Kirk Mobley, of Whitefish, MT; and his cherished grandchildren, Jack and James Mobley and Julia and Laura Rock. He is survived by his sister, Verna Rauschenberg, of Richmond, VA; his brother, David (Cathy) Mobley, of Atlanta, GA; cousin, Susan (Ron) Horne; and many beloved brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews. Bob's life was brightened by the loyal companionship of his dogs over the years: Beau, Skye, Sage, Heidi, Holly and Kibo.

A memorial service will be held on October 11, 2025, 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Whitefish. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Whitefish or Hugh Rogers WAG Park in Whitefish, MT. Condolences may be sent to the Mobley Family at P.O.
