Betty (Schaefer) Wright, age 84, of Fredericktown, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on Wednesday, June 12, 1940, in Fredericktown. She was born to the late Leslie “Les” and Myrtle Mae (Perry) Schaefer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Casey; brothers, Terry Schaefer, and Johnny Schaefer; and a sister, Karen Martin.
Betty dedicated over two decades of her life working at the Tinnin Garment Factory in Fredericktown. Later, she pursued a career at the Madison County Medical Center as a kitchen aide until her well-deserved retirement. Betty was known for her passion for collecting ceramic roosters, as well as her exceptional culinary skills, with her chicken and dumplings being a household favorite. In her leisure time, she found joy in sewing.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her loving husband of 41 years, Bob Wright; daughters, Karla Dussold (Alphonse) and Kathy Jaegers (Joe); step-son, Robert Allen (Corin); grandchildren, Danielle Jaegers (Samuel Shaefer), Justin Burns (Michelle), Déna Hornbostel (Brian), Alyssa Jaegers and Austin Dussold; step-grandchildren, Hunter and Christian Allen; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill Schaefer, Jerry Schaefer (Sharron), Leslie “Bud” Schaefer (Nora); special friend, Wilma Lunsford along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington with Rev. Larry Huber officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Fredericktown.
