Obituary published on Legacy.com by Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals & Cremations - Lancaster on Oct. 1, 2025.
The world became a little less bright on July 20, 2025, with the passing of Robert "Bobby" Joseph Holmlund. Born on January 6, 1992, in
Lancaster, California, Bobby's smile, infectious laughter, and loving personality brought joy to everyone around him.
Bobby's journey on this earth was one of love and light. Those who knew him will remember his unwavering commitment to spreading kindness, compassion, and friendship to everyone he encountered. He had a gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. People closest to him describe him as a 'true beam of light,' and 'the most kind and genuine soul.' Bobby truly thought of everyone else before himself, always thinking of ways to make everyone around him happy and helping anyone in whatever way he could.
Bobby spent his life loving sports in every way possible. Whether it was enjoying a game on TV with family and friends, playing baseball and football throughout junior high and high school, or trying to achieve his goal of visiting every baseball stadium for a live game, Bobby loved being involved with sports in any way he could. Bobby also excelled in school, graduating with honors from junior college and was excited to be enrolled in California State University Bakersfield to begin working on his degree. His lifelong goal was to become a teacher to impart his knowledge and passion for continued learning, and coaching sports onto future generations. More than the love of sports and teaching, Bobby was married to the love of his life Shelby, and devoted father to his favorite person in the world, his baby boy Brody.
Although Bobby's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. Bobby is preceded in death by his father Todd, sister Briannan, grandparents Mimi and Webb, grandfather Robert, cousin Daniel, and aunt Judy. He is survived through his wife Shelby, son Brody, parents Cathi and John, sisters Jennie (Will) and Katie, aunts Beth and Suzanne, uncles Danny (Tammy), Michael (Margaret), Fred (Nick), and Wayne, grandmother Dottie, grandparents Tom and Kathy, grandmother Bonnie, cousins Rosie, Gage, Blake, Wendy and Brian and countless extended family and friends who love him, and will miss him very much.
A celebration of life service will take place at Halley Olsen Murphy Mortuary, in Lancaster, on August 8, 2025 at 9:00am. Attendees are encouraged to wear something to represent their favorite sports team, in honor of Bobby's lifelong love of sports.
