Bonnie Mae Lipsey, aged 94, passed away at her home in Selma, Alabama, after a long illness, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Carl York and Fanny York; her husbands, Presley Kelsoe and John William Lipsey and eleven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Lamar (Trish) Kelsoe of Bradford, Virginia, and John Clay Lipsey of Selma, Alabama; one daughter, Lori Lipsey of Selma, Alabama; one brother, Danny (Susan) York of Pratttville, Alabama; two grandchildren, James Carl York (Teresa) Kelsoe of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jason Culbert of Lebanon, Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Kelsoe of Memphis, Tennessee, and Wyatt Culbert of Lebanon, Tennessee and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bonnie and her husband, John William Lipsey, were members of Highland Street Church of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, for many years. Bonnie's love for the Lord was manifested at an early age and grew throughout her long life. After moving to Selma, she attended Houston Park Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member until her death.

She was an avid gardener, who truly loved the soil.  Her flower and vegetable gardens at her residence at the Courtyard Apartments were the envy of her neighbors and friends.

She was recognized by Ward 3 City Councilman, Greg Bielke, for the Selma City Council Yard of the Month, three times.  Her roses, snapdragons, gladiolas, tomatoes, and peppers were the envy of all who saw them.

She will be truly missed by her church family, friends, neighbors, and all those who truly loved her.

Visitation will be Monday, April 22, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma, Alabama, with services to be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Houston Park Church of Christ at 11:00 a.m., with Minister Van Sprague officiating.
