Echelberry – Bruce Harold Echelberry, age 68, of Macclenny, Florida passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, at Community Hospice St. Vincent's Riverside Center for Caring with his loving family by his side. He was born in Dover, Ohio on January 3, 1956, to the late Harold Echelberry and Esther Deibel Echelberry. Bruce was raised in Ohio and graduated from East High School in Akron, Ohio in 1975. Shortly after school, Bruce married his high school sweetheart and forever companion, Karen Sue Heaton, on June 12, 1976. Bruce was a devoted husband, loving father and Poppy who cherished his family. He had a long successful career in Warehousing, dedicating many years at J.E. Carsten in Akron, Ohio as a Manager. Following his retirement, Bruce and Karen relocated to North Carolina in hopes of warmer weather and new work opportunities. Bruce served at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in their Parking Department for many years. In 2021, Bruce and Karen made Baker County their forever home and have enjoyed the warmth and no snow. Bruce was very talented and great with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors tending to his lawn. Bruce also enjoyed golf cart rides with his dogs, Ashley and Chloe, listening to classic country music, and more than anything, making precious memories with his family. He was such a treasure to those around him and presence brought great joy. He will certainly be deeply missed. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Constance Maddox.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen Echelberry of Macclenny, FL; children, Hope Echelberry (John David, III) Clelland of Kingsland, GA, Heather (Liam Myron) Echelberry of Akron, OH, and Bruce Echelberry, Jr.; grandchildren, Adrianna Marie Clelland, John David Clelland, IV, Aiden Bruce Clelland, Marissa Rae Echelberry, Caden James Myron, and Declan Grey Myron; brother, Gary Echelberry; sister, Pamela Echelberry; along with several extended family members and friends.
