Calvin Martin Obituary

Houlka---Calvin Henry Martin, 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his family in Houlka on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born April 20, 1950 in Vardaman, he was the son of the late Jessie "Jake" Benton Martin and the late Virginia Duncan Martin. On January 1, 1976, he married his wife, Denise, and they spent 48 wonderful years together. Calvin was a former employee if Astro-Lounger in Houlka, MS. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and taking care of his chickens. He had many other hobbies that included mud-riding, playing cards, and visiting with his grandchildren. He was also very outgoing, talkative, and enjoyed time with his friends.
Calvin was loved deeply by his family and friends, and they will forever hold his memory dear to their hearts.
Southern Funeral Home has the honor of serving the Martin family.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 4:00pm at Southern Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Jacob Samuell will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Lane Washington, Jason Collums, Shane Martin, Anthony Martin, Ryan West, and Ty Russell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Russell, Zach McCoy, and Raylon Holder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Viginia Martin; and his brother, Edward Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise Martin; son, Gregg (Cheyenne) Martin and their children, Hannah (Tanner) Cochran, Madison Martin, Kingston Childress, Axleigh Childress, Jake and Jonah Martin; daughter, Dannielle (Derek) Earp and their children, Greg (Makenna) Earp, Blake (Caitlyn Heair, Cambry Caden, and Emmaline Earp; sister, Joyce (Sammy) Washington; brother, Jessie Martin; sister-in-law, Ann Martin; 3 great-grandchildren, Steele and Dallas Earp and Bristol Rae Heair; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and family.
