Carl Edward "Ed" Ellis, Jr. 81, of Pittsburg was born on August 11, 1944 in Alexandria, Indiana to Carl Edward Ellis, Sr. and Martha Cain. He passed away on September 2, 2025 at his residence. Ed was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served his country proudly in Guam and in Okinawa. He married his wife Juanita on July 7, 2001. Ed drove a feed truck for 33 years for Pilgrims Pride and after retirement he gave of his time, volunteering at the East Texas Food Bank in Gilmer, Texas. He was an avid woodworking hobbyist and loved to play Farkle and other games way up into the evening during family game nights. Ed was a dedicated member of the Gilmer Church of the Nazarene. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Ed is proceeded in death by his parents; brother Bob Ellis; sister in laws, Sandy Ellis and Jeri Ellis; grandson Tyler Jordan Harris; and late wife, Elizabeth Allyne Wells Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Alice Ellis; son Bill Ellis and wife Angie; daughter Lori Baker and husband Austin; son Michael Compton and wife Patricia Cosman; daughter Michele Conard; grandsons Case Ellis, Trace Ellis, Brantley Ellis, Levi Baker, Dylan Conard; granddaughters Kylee Conard, Cali Baker; great grandchildren Coltyn Cosman, Rylee Cosman; brothers Larry Ellis and wife Carol, Donnie Ellis and wife Becky, Ralph Ellis and Frank Ellis and wife Deborah; pet Hank Ellis and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Texas Oncology Longview Cancer Center and Accent Care Hospice for their excellent care, kindness, and compassion during his final days. In lieu of flowers the family askes that donations be made in his memory to the East Texas Food Bank of Gilmer, Texas. The family will receive friends during a time of viewing on Saturday, September 6, 2025 in the Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home from 3 to 5 PM. A service will be held at a later date at the Gilmer Church of the Nazarene.
