Carl Weigand Obituary

Carl E. Weigand, 95, of Burrell Township passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born June 11, 1929 in the Paulton section of Washington Township, he was the son of the late Theodore and Rose (Yedlicka) Weigand. Carl was a graduate of Washington Township High School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country during the Korean conflict.
Carl was employed by Alcoa and ATI, West Leechburg as a machinist until his retirement in 1991. He was the owner and operator of Weigand Farm where he raised beef cattle. Machinist by trade, cowboy by heart.
Raising cattle was Carl's passion. He would share his knowledge to anyone who would listen and encouraged others to follow their dreams. He enjoyed everything that had to do with agriculture and the outdoors. Carl barrel raced his horses, tended to his bees, and loved hunting with his coon dogs and taking them to shows. Carl could always be found wandering around his farm enjoying the wildlife and checking on various nut trees he tried to grow. But Carl's greatest joy was spending time on the farm with his three grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Z. Weigand-September 10, 2005; sisters, LaRue Walters and Dolores Markle.
Carl is survived by his son, Alan K. (Megan) Weigand of Apollo; grandsons, Elliott, Connor, and Ethan Weigand all of Apollo; sister, Norma Loase of Vass, NC; nieces, Donna and Patty; and a nephew, Brad.
Friends and family will be welcomed Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 12 noon till the hour of the service at 4:00pm in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 100 Owens View Avenue Apollo with Rev. Dr. Ronald Raptosh officiating. Military Honor will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Private burial in Cochran Mills Methodist Church Cemetery, Burrell Township.
