Carol Johnson Obituary

Carol (Swanson) Johnson, 77, of West Hartford, joined God and her beloved husband of 52 years, Stanley G. Johnson Jr. in Heaven on September 21, 2024, after fighting a long battle with multiple illnesses.
Carol was born on December 2, 1946, in Hartford, CT. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Virginia (Vicino) Swanson. Carol graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford in 1964. She attended Cosmetology School in Hartford, obtaining a certificate to work as a hairdresser. Carol then pursued a career at American Greetings as a merchandiser. Although she was no longer a professional beauty technician, she was often found still cutting hair for family and friends.
Carol was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in the church. She was often seen volunteering at craft fairs, coffee hour, the annual Lucia festival, the Swedish Junior League, Sprout, and Friday Night Program, as well as countless other church functions.
Carol leaves behind her son, Peter Johnson of Verona, MO; her daughter, Jenny St. John of East Hartford, CT; her daughter-in-law, Lori Johnson of Bristol, CT; her grandchildren, Hailey Johnson, Nathan Johnson, and Dylan St. John; and her brother-in-law, Stevie Lincoln and his wife Tina of South Berwick, ME. Carol also leaves behind her church family, many cousins, Peter and Jenny's significant others Pam Rager and Cory Lachance, as well as many special friends including Carol and Vic Spakauskas, and Katie Therrien. Carol was predeceased by her brother Ernest Swanson of Hardwick, VT.
Funeral Services will be Friday, September 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 311 Capitol Ave, Hartford. Friends are welcome to call just prior to the start of the service.
