Casey Leigh Hayes, 34 of Marion, tragically died Friday October 11, 2024 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Union County.
She was born September 16, 1990 in Fairfax, Va.
Growing up, Casey has always had a love for the ocean and Dolphins. They were her
happy place. So much so, she made her mom sponsor a manatee in the 7th grade.
Some of her favorite memories were family vacations. Going to Virginia Beach, visiting
the ocean and seeing dolphins was high up on that list. Visiting family in Virginia was
always a vacation she looked forward to every summer.
In high school, she participated in Color Guard and marching band. She also joined the
ROTC with her brother TJ. There, they made a lot of friends and made some great
memories. Spending time with friends was very important.
Casey's favorite person was Billy. Although she never shied away from picking on him
and getting under his skin, the love she had for him was unbound. They enjoyed
spending time together and supporting the kids in every way possible. However they did
enjoy their alone time too, doing things like sneaking out to watch a movie without the
boys knowing. They both worked so hard to strengthen their love for one another by
finding different ways to keep the love alive.
Casey loved to capture memories. Starting with scrapbooking that evolved into taking
pictures and videos of every moment. Family, friends, sports, and students, she
captured everything. She loved to travel, creating countless memories from trips to
Disney, Universal and Cruises. She would work so hard to make sure her family could
experience the world while capturing every moment along the way. While on vacation,
she was such a foodie. She was always down for trying new foods from different
cultures.
Halloween and Christmas were her favorite holidays, whether it was watching horror
movies with her boys or spending time with the family and the dogs around the
Christmas tree. Being able to experience Disney at Christmas and Halloween time was
at the top of her bucket list.
You could always find Casey at the Ball Field or Cheering from the bleachers at a
football game. Sports played a huge part in her life. Supporting not only her boys at
games but the entire team as well. At home you could find her cheering on the
Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.
She loved showing her goofy side. Casey was never afraid to stand out. She always
exuded confidence. She promoted Pride and everything that came with it, attending
events and showing her support for others. She enjoyed building others up. Casey was
a proponent for disabilities and autism awareness. She loved working with her students
at New Story and her clients at Creative Foundations.
Although Casey is no longer with us, her memories will live with us forever. She made
everyone a better person. We will carry on her memory and pass along the love,
compassion, and joy she was able to give to us. We love you to the moon and back.
Surviving is her husband, William Micheal Hayes II, they were married November 18, 2017 in Columbus, also surviving are their sons, Gabriel "Tuff", Christian "Chunk" and Blake "Little", they were the light of her life.
Her mother, Alicia Marie (Burrell) McKenzie of Marion
Siblings, T.J. (Katie) Sanford of Pleasant View, TN., Alan (Andiee) Bowman of Delaware, Nick (Katie) McKenzie of Delaware and Bryanna (Skylar) Roar of Delaware
Step-father, who helped raise her, Art (Denise) McKenzie of North Lewisburg
Grandparents, Timothy (Jan) Clark, Richard (Terri) Ashcraft, Earl (Judy) Sanford and Mindy McKenzie
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Bruce McKenzie

I met Casey at Creative Foundations where we both worked as caregivers, and Casey and I became good friends.
Casey was kind and she had a big heart, Casey loved life and she loved her children and her husband, Casey loved her clients and she loved watching them to achieve their goals, Casey always encouraged everyone if you got to go don't give up complete it..

I definitely will miss Casey, she was a wonderful person and friend and she will be missed very much!
Casey has really touched the hearts of many people, including her family and her friends and even her clients at CF..

Thank you, Casey for your friendship, and for being like a sister to me,
Love you sis..
