Catherine Ann McLean Obituary

Catherine Ann McLean, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, in Santa Rosa, California, surrounded by her family. Born in Gault, Ontario, Canada, on April 29, 1950, Cathy moved to Southern California as a young girl and grew up in Orange County with her siblings Mike and Shelly.

After marrying, Cathy relocated to Berkeley, California, before settling in San Rafael to raise her two sons, Jason Hatfield (wife Judith) and Grant Hatfield (wife Guadalupe). During this time, she co-founded the Monk's Inn restaurant in San Rafael, where her hard work and dedication led to many lifelong friendships. She also worked for many years at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, forming lasting bonds with her coworkers.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Cathy cherished her time with grandchildren-Dustin, Samantha, Joseph, and Carolina. She welcomed family and friends into her home with love, support, and warm meals. After the passing of their parents, Cathy cared for her siblings Mike and Shelly, helping them start a new life in Northern California.

Cathy had a deep love for nature, enjoying beach walks where she collected seashells and feathers, gardening, and making beautiful jewelry from beads and gems she found. An avid traveler, she shared many adventures with her cousin Lynda and Lynda's husband, Gene.

Cathy's warmth, strength, and kindness touched everyone who knew her. Her loving spirit will continue to live on in her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends.
