Cathy A. Simpson, 63, of Stratford, Iowa passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held from 1-3 P.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Vintage Parlor located at 908 Commercial Street in Stratford, Iowa. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton has been entrusted with arrangements.
Catherine Ann Hotchkiss daughter of William and Velva (Berglund) Hotchkiss was born on October 5, 1960, in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Stratford High School with the class of 1979.
On November 15, 1980, Cathy was united in marriage to Brett E. Peterson at Stratford. Brett passed away on August 8, 1989. On October 29, 1993, Cathy was united in marriage to James Russell Simpson at the Stratford Lutheran Church. To this union, one daughter Madison was born. The couple made their home in Stratford.
Cathy worked for several years as a scheduler at Kenco Warehouse in Webster City. She most recently was employed at CDS Global in Boone where she had worked for over 23 years.
Cathy enjoyed gambling and days spent down at the river. She was also an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan. Most of all, Cathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was also preceded in death by her brother, Gale Hotchkiss.
Survivors include her loving husband, Russ Simpson and daughter, Madison Simpson both of Stratford; stepchildren, Misty Simpson of Fort Dodge, Grant (Angie) Simpson of Webster City, and Mitch Simpson of Fort Dodge; her brother, Dan Hotchkiss of Virginia, MN; and her sister, Barb Hotchkiss also of Virginia, MN.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
