Charlene Hendrix Obituary

Born November 12, 1944, at Pine Bluff, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Bittinger and Mayselle Berry Bittinger.
Charlene was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School class of 1962 and of Southern State College, Now Southern Arkansas University, class of 1966 where she received her degree in Elementary Education.
She taught elementary school in Bethany, Louisiana, Soso, Mississippi and in Arkansas for Watson Chapel School District before retiring in 2004 after 35 years of service.
A faithful member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church, Charlene enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School class and was very active in church activities throughout the years including teaching Sunday School and the Cubbies age group at Awana. She was part of Bible Study Fellowship, and the Christian Women's Group.
Charlene enjoyed gardening and was a previous member of the Master Gardener volunteer program. She also had a passion for running and had completed at least 15 marathons and continued to be active in the Pine Bluff Running Club for several years after her last marathon.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her brother, Jake Cash; and a grandson, Payton Allman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Glen W. Hendrix, to whom she was married December 20, 1964; two sons, Charles Hendrix (Melissa), and Mark Hendrix (Brittny); six grandchildren, David Hendrix, Madelyn Hendrix, Andrew Hendrix (Katie), Nathan Hendrix (Nicole), Chess Hernden (April), and Colt Thompson (Bailey); three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and many other loving family & friends.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Brother Steve Monk officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive guests prior to services starting at 10:00 a.m.
