At age 78, Charles, of Verona, passed peacefully at UPMC EAST on Friday, October 25, 2024. Charles is survived by his fiancé to Katherine Jones; step-son Allan (Jennifer) Jones; son-in-law Bobby Bedak; grandsons Andrew Bedak, Duncan Jones; Sisters Judy (Fred) Stubble, Lynn Welsh; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wilberta and Charles Smail, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Zborvan and Marie Bologna. Charles was employed as a meat cutter at Community Market on Milltown Road in Penn Hills for over 34 years. Charles was the definition of a true, rugged outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, riding bikes, and kayaking. Charles took pride in working outside, especially at his camp. After a long day working outdoors, there was no better way to end the day than sitting around the fire. There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. has been entrusted with arrangements.
