Charles Tuthill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Logan Funeral Home, Inc. - Exton on Feb. 12, 2025.
Charles F. Tuthill, known affectionately as "Charlie" to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 11, 2025. Charlie was born on October 4, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, and his life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
Charlie's early years were spent in the city of his birth, where he was raised by his mother and two aunts after his father's early passing.
He served in the Army from 1947 to 1950, during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the 1505 52nd ORD AMMO Company in the military police (MP). For his service, he was awarded The Korean Service Medal, a testament to his courage and commitment.
Charlie's career took him down many paths, from the Philadelphia Inquirer, to the trucking industry, to the Downingtown Area School District. The role that meant the most was being a devoted husband to his wife, Donna. Their story began at a movie theater-Charlie working part time as an usher, and Donna as the manager. Their love led them to the altar on Valentine's Day in 1987, later settling in Downingtown. He shared 36 years of marriage with his beloved wife, who preceded him in death.
Charlie's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his daughters-Lynn Cosgrove (John) of Florida, Lisa Myers (Wiley) of Delaware, Melissa Burke (Hugh) of Exton, and Heather Mattson (Mike Yeager) of Honey Brook. He was a devoted grandfather to Tarah, Lindsay, Lauren, Barry, Maeve, Fiona, Morgan, Luke, and Emma, and a proud great-grandfather to Jadelyn, Layla, Wyatt, Greenlee, and Lilly.
He found joy in the magic of movies, especially Westerns, and never lost his love for simple pleasures-Disney films, Saturday morning cartoons, and, most of all, time with his grandchildren. Even in retirement, his generous spirit shone through. He gave back by volunteering at Saints Philip & James School's cafeteria and staying active in the Faith Community Baptist Church.
Those who knew Charlie would describe him as kind, gentle, and selfless. His ability to put others before himself was nothing short of inspiring. He navigated life's challenges with grace and always managed to find a reason to smile, a quality that endeared him to everyone he met.
Please join Charlie's family this Saturday February 15, at The Logan Funeral Home 698 E. Lincoln Hwy Exton PA 19341, visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Funeral service at 10:30am. Burial will take place immediate following services at Valley Forge Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Travis Manion Foundation.
